Moscone West - 3009, L3, 10:20 - 12:20, Wednesday, 11 December 2019
09/2019: I will visit Prof. Gary Parker at CEE, Univ. of Illinois.
07/2019: As part of my research project, Prof. Brandon McElory is invited to visit Yellow River Institute of Hydraulic Research and lead the survey to capture the detailed dynamics of turbidity currents in the Xiaolangdi Reservior, Yellow River, China.
05/2019: Jinsha River Survey and Field Trip. Led by Tsinghua University and Inst. of Mt. Harzards, CAS, I will join an group of international researchers to scope the Jinsha River and survey the deposits of Baige landslide dam-breaching flood.
01/11/19: On Feb 14, 2019, I will visit and give a talk at the Dept of CEE, the University of Hawai'i, Manoa, USA.
10/22/18: AGU program has been released link. I will give two talks as follows. Welcome your inputs!
Title: Turbidity currents in Xiaolangdi reservoir, Yellow River, China: dynamics and geomorphic expression. link
Session: OS11A Turbidity Currents and the Morphology and Stratigraphy They Create I
08:45 - 09:00, Monday, 10 December 2018.
Title: Change in downstream bedform type, bed material sediment transport regime and flood potential in response to sediment blockage by a dam: can bed degradation increase flooding risk? (Invited) link
Session: EP24A Advancement in the Measurement and Understanding of Sediment Transport and Bed Form Dynamics in Sand Bed Rivers I
16:45 - 17:00, Tuesday, 11 December 2018
05/09/18: I will visit and give a talk at the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, University of New Orleans, USA
04/24/18: I will visit and give talks at the Department of Geography, Durham University, UK
02/23/18 - 03/20/18: My colleagues of NSF coastal sustainability project and I successfully conduct winter field survey at the abandoned channels of the Yellow River delta. The fruitful field data will help identify the sediment infilling process in the channels that were abandoned by the Yellow River via channel avulsion.
01/24/2018: I will give a web talk to the faculty meeting of CEE, MIT.
12/11/2018: AGU (hooray!!!!)
I will chair the session "Sediment transport mechanics, morphologic expressions and depositional patterns of fine-grained dispersal systems" at AGU fall meeting. Welcome to join the party!
I will give a talk on "Phase transition behavior of sediment transport at the sand-mud interface, across scales from flumes to the large river" on Dec 11 at AGU fall meeting.
11/03/2017: I will visit Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.
11/02/2017 Evening: I will give a class lecture "How much sediment can a river carry to ocean?" at Boston College
11/02/2017 Morning: I will visit Prof. Dan Li's environmental fluid mechanics lab @ BU.
11/01/2017 Afternon: I will visit Prof. Heidi Nepf's environmental fluid mechanics lab and Prof. Taylor Perron's surface process lab @MIT to give a talk on "Bedload transport: Theory, Experiments and Modeling".
